What I’ve Learned from Running a Studio in Melbourne

When I first started this studio, I thought it’d just be about doing what I already do every day — taking photos.
Lighting, setup, editing — those have always been second nature to me, so I didn’t think much of it.

But it turns out, running a studio is a completely different game.
I had to think about how to structure each session, what kind of shoots to focus on, and how to set prices that make sense for both clients and me.

Then came the website, social media, ads, and all that digital stuff.
And since Melbourne is such a mix of people from everywhere, I ended up juggling different messaging apps and booking platforms just to keep up with everyone.

At first, I honestly thought the hardest part would be signing a lease as a foreigner. Looking back now, that was probably the easiest thing — just read the papers, sign, done.

Now we shoot a lot more, work with other creatives, travel for projects, and even collaborate with other Korean business owners here in Melbourne.

The weather’s been getting warmer lately, and it feels like the year’s flying by.
To everyone reading this — hope you’re doing well, staying motivated, and getting ready to wrap up the year strong. Let’s make the next one a good one. 🌿
