Why I Love This Job
It’s been just about three weeks since our photo studio officially opened its doors. In the beginning, I felt a certain pressure to make this space my own—to create an environment I could fully control. I believed that this sense of mastery would directly translate into better results for our clients. During that time, our team had countless discussions, and I listened carefully to feedback from friends and family. What I came to realize was that the most critical element wasn’t control at all. It was communication.
When clients visit our studio, we work to break down language barriers. We use a real-time translator on our monitor, and we share both their photos and examples to ensure we’re aligned on the creative vision. We’ll sit together, going through the shots in real-time, discussing what poses feel most natural, what expressions truly shine, and what details to emphasize to capture their unique strengths. It’s a collaborative effort, and the goal is always the best possible outcome.
This process has allowed me to meet people from all over the world, expanding my understanding of different cultures (and discovering incredible food, like the Hunan restaurant a client from China recommended!). The effort we all put into bridging the communication gap, and then seeing their joy when they see the final photos, is what truly fuels me. That shared happiness is why I genuinely love what I do.
While we are still in the early stages, with more to learn and more people to meet, every single one of these experiences has been precious. They’ve transformed my work from a job into a source of daily joy.
